The Band-Aid Portrait

A world record to honor a world champion.

On the occasion of the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Baloise, main sponsor of Nina Derwael, set out to reaffirm its support for the Olympic champion.

The idea: create a striking tribute built from what defines her journey.
A pointillist portrait of Nina, where each dot is a band-aid, symbolising the failures, injuries and perseverance behind greatness.

The result: a 7-meter-high billboard composed of 33,246 hand-placed band-aids and over 130 hours of meticulous work. A powerful ode to resilience, displayed for three weeks in the heart of the host city.

This piece became the centerpiece of a broader campaign, spanning press, social media, out-of-home and an event-led reveal. The portrait was unveiled during a press conference, with the making-of amplifying the story across channels.

Plaster? Band-Aid? Yes, in UK English, a plaster is a band-aid. As the case film was for Eurobest and Creative Belgium, we used “plaster”.
